The Circus Maximus was the largest stadium in ancient Rome. At one point the Circus could seat 250,000 people, one quarter of Rome's population, and on most days chariot races, pulled by four horses, were held here and is now located in one of the most exclusive neighbourhoods in Rome. Nearby there are plenty of beautiful restaurants and shops, this is definitely somewhere you could spend a full day just soaking up the Roman culture.
